Hi there folks, I will be posting a new short story Sunday evening, along with Episode 20 of the podcast. I would post it now, but I'm trying to work out all of the kinks. Thank you for being patient...

Tyranny in Lebanon...

I have nothing to say about what is going on in Lebanon, simply because it would be useless to talk of the horror that has ensued throughout Lebanon. I try to bring beauty, love, and education to the world, not tyranny, tears, and bloodshed. It breaks my heart to envision women weeping over the death of a loved one or child. What else can I say?

Google enjoys toying with my emotions. Recent search terms directing people to my blog were, "Jefferson Davis Dead", "Jefferson Davis' Headstone", "Writings of Jefferson Davis", and my personal favorite "The inner thoughts of Jefferson Davis".
  1. I'm not dead, nor do I want to be dead. The President of the South (Jefferson Davis) is dead, and he has been that way for over a hundred years, so get over it. Life goes on people. The civil war was over a hundred years ago, yet we are still divided, not just north and south, but east and west, ethnicity, and culture still divide us today. Anybody that doesn't see that is a bigot themselves. Recently, a friend made fun of the Northern Irish, because they can't get along, but I was quick to remind him that we cannot get along in our communities, streets, and own houses. Who are we to make fun of another culture?
  2. I don't have a damn headstone, so get over it already. Some people choose to buy a burial plot, headstone and pay for the funeral services ahead of time, but in my opinion, that is planning for death, and I'm planning for that. However, it can be said that dealing with all of that ahead of time, saves your family a lot of grief, yet I say let them weep. Just kidding... I did tell my mother one time, when I was hanging by a thread that was fraying with every breath, that I wanted to be buried overlooking a small pond, while lying under a dogwood tree, which would shed its aromatic blossoms on my grave every spring...
  3. As far as the writing is concerned, I can only hope that more people read what I have to say. Everything I write has a message behind it, whether it be obvious or not.
  4. The inner ponderings of my mind are for my eyes only. :-) My intellect is something that an exquisite being dare not bespeak, and something that an intellectual pines for daily. OK, I am a bit full of myself, but I do have a keen eye and intellectual prowess.. :)

Irish Car Bomb...

If you want to call yourself a real Irishman, drink a Irish Car Bomb. This will do one of two things, either your stomach will explode upon impact, or you'll have one hell of a time. This drink consist of 1/2 oz. of Bailey's Irish Cream, 1/2 Pint of Guinness, and a 1/2 oz. of Old Jameson Whiskey. Now, if you can drink two shots of that drink and not stagger, I salute you...

I'm leaving out to go somewhere, I'm not quite sure where though. Anyhow, have a great weekend all, and don't drink too much. Let me do that for you. :-) Seriously, I only drink once a week, if that much, so I'm not saying that you must drink to be cool or Irish. Have fun all, for I certainly expect to have fun this weekend...

Oh, a new episode of the podcast will be up tomorrow evening. Thanks for being so patient
everyone...

Google has developed a new version of its popular search engine, pacifically for the blind and visually impaired. I'm not making fun of the blind, or Google's effort to help them search the Internet; in fact, I am blind in my left eye....Well, 95% blind in my left eye. Oh well, Jefferson Davis has revealed something else about himself. Oh, what a scary thought that is.

Yes, I can remember going to Blind Camp as a kid, and how I felt like a king, because after all, I am only blind in one eye. Those were great times on the lake, let me tell you...

Anyhow, getting back to the story, Google's new search engine product will pick out the easiest to read web pages, closest to the search criteria.

Complex, graphical designs that pack a lot of information onto large Web pages fare poorly when a low vision user relies on screen magnifiers that must expand small sections of a computer screen and make them huge, the researcher said.

A blind or dyslexic user of a screen reader that converts text into spoken words using a synthesized voice would waste a lot of time skipping over extraneous page content, he noted.

According to Reuters, "The U.S. Agriculture Department's failure to develop a "comprehensive" program to monitor for bird flu could leave the country unprepared if an outbreak happens, a bipartisan group of senators said on Friday".

UPDATE: Read Below...

I've about had up to my beak, with this whole bird-flu preparation gimmick. The USDA is slack, no one is doubting that, but where is the bird flu. I've not heard of any new outbreaks lately.

Live life to the fullest people, and never let an opportunity go by without taking that chance. If you live life to the fullest, then you have nothing to worry about, now do ya...

In a letter to Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns, six lawmakers said some states were not as prepared as they should be for the disease.

To better protect public health, they said, the department should provide states with a protocol for developing avian influenza response plans.

The letter also expressed concern that the U.S. Agriculture Department has not done enough to prepare for an outbreak in multiple states or raise awareness among backyard poultry owners for symptoms of the virus.

"We need leadership from USDA in preparing for the arrival of avian flu," said Sen. Tom Harkin, an Iowa Democrat on the Senate Agriculture Committee.

"USDA's failure to develop a comprehensive monitoring program leaves us in the dark about areas of the country where better surveillance is needed. And USDA's inadequate assistance and cooperation with states and industry leaves our nation unnecessarily vulnerable," he said.

The letter also was signed by Democratic Sens. Harry Reid, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer and Republican Charles Grassley.

Last month, USDA's inspector general said the United States did not have adequate measures in place to survey and monitor for avian influenza, including the deadly H5N1 strain.

I think what scared the Senators into speaking up, was the fact that the 42nd Death was confirmed yesterday in Indonesia. Every time we put these sort of things on the back burner, it always comes back to burn us in the end. Are you scared of the big...bad...H5N1 virus?

I'm not scared of notin, for my name is Jefferson Davis, and anybody named that and had a gun put there head over that name, and still persist on using is a tough sum bitch... Bring it on H5N1... I ain't scared! LOL

It appears that the DSCA (Defense Security Cooperation Agency) will be selling off $276 Million dollars worth of spare parts for M1A2 Abrams tanks, M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, and other equipment. I guess somebodies pockets are deepening, from that load of cast. I ponder whether they'll the US Government will be paid with Gold or OIl...Oh, I forgot, they are the same thing...

The one plus side to selling off surplus equiptment, is that we are getting something back, or at least somebody is. The US government usually gives away equiptment to one side, so they'll side with us, and then later turn on us, like the Talibon. What's your say?

In a mandatory notification to Congress, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which oversees major arms sales, said the deal would help improve the security of Saudi Arabia.

Congress has 30 days to block the deal, although such action is rare.

"The uninterrupted supply of spare parts will allow Saudi Arabia to keep its vehicle fleet at the highest state of readiness," said the agency, which oversees major arms sales.

On Thursday, DSCA notified Congress that it had approved the sale to Saudi Arabia of 24 UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters, radios, armored vehicles and other military equipment worth more than $6 billion.

DSCA said the spare parts deal would take place under a Cooperative Logistics Supply Support Agreement. Under the deal, Saudi Arabia pays for options worth up to $276 million, which it can then use to place orders for spare parts.

It approved $461 million under a similar logistics deal with Saudi Arabia in March 1991 during the first Gulf War.

It said the spare parts would be procured from the many contractors providing similar items to U.S. forces.

Segment One of (No Title)

This is the beginning of a big story, that I will cut into segments and post each week. It is a good beginning, and I hope it will entice you to read more, as I post more segments of this fantastic story. Let me know what you think about it. The reason it does not have a title, is because I have not finished writting the story, and it is very difficult to say what the ending will be like, until I actually sit down and write it. What are your thoughts?

I'm not going anywhere any time soon, but come January, I'll be leaving for England. I've sent my application to Reading University, so unless something drastic happens, I'll be in England for at least three months. I have been at odds with my family, since I returned from Ireland, so I have nothing holding me here. Don't misunderstand me, I love my family, but at present it is not mutual.

They assume that I'm an idiot I guess. They do everything in there power to keep me from being the best I can be. I strive to be the most I can be, but if it were up to them, I would stay in the same location, and never accomplish anything. I don't have that kind of mind set. I tend to be just like my dad, try, try, and try again until I get it right. Samuel Beckett said in his great wisdom, "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better".

I've not yet told my family that I'm going, but they'll get over the shock, and try to throw a new vehicle at me, to solve the problem, but it won't work this time. Material possessions are wonderful, but if you don't have no soul, individuality, spunk, or essence, then what is the point. I have spent my entire life, making other people's lives better, now it's my damn turn people.

I want to change this crazy world we live in for the better, but I surely can't do that in my current status, so I'm going to do what I want to do for a damn change. I hope I can inspire someone else out there in the blogosphere to do the same.

No more negative energy from this Southern boy, named Jefferson Davis.

10,000 Hits, Not Including My Own...

This particular blog has been around since September last year. It and my other blog have gone through a bunch of changes, as I have changed, but hopefully for the better. I stopped discussing politics so much, because I am burnt out on the subject, and frankly, it depresses me. Post over the past seven weeks have been a bit subdued, but I hope to change that in the future. More craziness to come...

Thank you everyone that links to me. I appreciate it, and if you want me to link to your blog, just email me.

A few people have stopped linking to my blog, but that's their call. I've not forgot my base readers, and I certainly hope they do not forget theirs. I used to link to other blogs that didn't link to me, but that has all changed. If ya don't link to me, I'm not going to link to you. "Bloggership", at least that is what I call a friendship between two bloggers, is just like a real friendship. It is a two-way street, and there must be give and take.

I'll be glad to help out anybody I can with blogging, or podcasting.

I've got a ton of content coming up, for the podcast and blog, but you'll have to wait and see what happens. The life and times of Jefferson Davis is just getting started...

I'm still working on a title for this poem. Any feedback would be appreciated. What are your thoughts?

A fire that burns eternally within,

for the touch of your skin.

A fire that encapsulates every palisade,

that flows like a great crusade,

for the chance to be played.

Red hot embers that glow at my feet,

cause the fire to grow with fierce heat.

Every ripple of flame,

that runs up my knees,

causes me to increase a few degrees.

Every time I am in your presence,

that flame climbs with great haste.

As the flame courses up my waste,

I fell as though I am being chaste.

As the blaze begins to flutter up my chest,

my heart starts to mutter,

a word that I dare not utter.

A word for my beloved,

that will never go unloved,

for I’m ablaze from stem to stern,

with your captivating charm.

Extremely long post coming tomorrow evening on this exact subject. Do you ponder that America has an attitude problem? Yes or No Answers would be appreciated, but feel free to opine...

I've been kind of gloomy of late on the blog, so here is a great joke, to lift your spirits, literally...
Devil In The Church

One Sunday morning, everyone in one bright, beautiful, tiny town got up early and went to the local church.

Before the services started, the townspeople were sitting in their pews and talking about their lives, their families, etc. Suddenly, Satan appeared at the front of the church. Everyone started screaming and running for the front entrance, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away from evil incarnate.

Soon everyone was evacuated from the church, except for one elderly gentleman who sat calmly in his pew, not moving... seemingly oblivious to the fact that God's ultimate enemy was in his presence. Now this confused Satan a bit, so he walked up to the man and said, "Don't you know who I am?"

The man replied, "Yep, sure do."

Satan asked, "Aren't you afraid of me?"

"Nope, sure ain't," said the man.

Satan was a little perturbed at this and queried, "Why aren't you afraid of me?"

The man calmly replied, "Been married to your sister for over 48 years."

Friendship...

I wrote this poem last year, after...ahem...I'll save ya from having to read that garbage. Let me just say, that I got done wrong, as is done to all of us at one point or another... What do you think?

What is a soul to you?

Something you can control for a while,

until you gain another mile.

Someone to listen to all your chronicles,

and christen all the half-truths.

Make you feel big,

while you rig another soul of deceit.

Someone to help with your troubles,

and be there on the double.

Kicked and down I may be,

but a frown you’ll never see.

Friendship is give and take,

for I will never partake in the lies and deceit,

of a snake like you.

Spew your arsenic and guile,

on someone else for a while.

I’ll file your name,

with a sense of shame,

to of ever known your game.

I am not trying to say that such a conspiracy is true, by showing this video, but it is compelling nether the less. What are your thoughts?

Obtuse...

This is for a women, that...ahem...I'm not going to tell you about at the moment. Just try to imagine a brick wall, which I'm trying to break down. Any suggestions would be appreciated. What are your thoughts?

Over and over, I try to surpass the brick wall,

that you have so callously put before me.

But with every hit of chisel and hammer,

a brick falls, and I encounter a piece of your heart.

The thought of that brick wall falling,

is the only thought that keeps my hammer swinging.

Ultimately, I will not fail,

for my hammer and chisel will never be frail.

Suddenly, the wall of protection begins to sway,

for I am swinging in dismay.

Eagerly, I knock down the wall,

that kept you from being enthralled,

by the love,

that I have recalled.

Since I'm lame, and can't come up with any good post, here is some pictures to make up for it...

Do you ever wonder about the road less traveled?

Mega-Attitude Magey Cat... He's a Player...

Seven Common Signs of Lying

  1. No eye contact. Generally, if someone is lying they will not look you in the eye, at least during a certain part of the conversation. Normally, people make eye contact for at least half of a conversation, so anything less than this could be suspicious. One caveat: there are some people who will take great pains to make eye contact with you even if they're lying, simply to make you think they're not.
  2. Change in voice. A change in the pitch of a person's tone, or a lot of stammering (umm, ah), or throat clearing could indicate a lie.
  3. Unusual body language. If a person taps their foot a lot, fidgets with their hands, raises their shoulders, turns away from you or brings their hand to their face (to touch their chin or nose, etc.) -- in other words, if they act nervous or uncomfortable -- it could mean they're telling a lie. Also watch out for blushing (or becoming pale) and increased blinking.
  4. Something sounds fishy. Making statements that contradict each other, are inconsistent or don't sound quite right are usually part of a lie.
  5. Overly defensive. Sometimes when a person is lying they will become extremely defensive, refusing to answer any questions and even accusing you of lying. This may mean they have something to hide.
  6. Changes subject easily. If someone is lying and you change the subject, chances are high that they'll go right along with it. A person telling the truth, however, will likely ask why you changed the subject and want to go back to it.
  7. Humor or sarcasm. A guilty person will often try to change the subject using humor or sarcasm.

Starting Monday, I will be posting an excerpt out of another book I am working on, which I'll probably never finish. I will post an excerpt each week. Any feedback is appreciated...

Folks, it appears that Microsoft is putting its hat in the ring for best music player. Yes that's right folks, Microsoft has proclaimed once again, that they will come out with a music player to contend with the IPod. Supposedly, it will be out by Christmas.

I did mock the XBOX 360, but I have done a 180 degree spin on that issue. The XBOX 360 will make you drool, from exhilaration. They do have one idea, that I hope they follow through with. It appears that this new IPod Killer will be able to download music from you PC(I guarantee you that it will not work with a MAC.)wirelessly. This is an intriguing idea, that I am absolutely enthralled by. We shall see what happens. What's your say?

The new player, which Microsoft Corp. has been touting to record companies in the last few weeks, will let users download music and videos over the air, according to one source, a feature which would give it an edge over the iPod.

Microsoft Corp. has also been showing a new media software, developing an application akin to Apple Computer Inc.'s iPod/iTunes integrated ecosystem, according to another source.

Record companies are expected to be receiving prototypes to test in the coming weeks, said the first source. The sources said Microsoft will be throwing significant marketing dollars behind the launch.

"They're proposing an iTunes model approach," the first source told Reuters. "They're now interested in controlling the whole vertical stack of technology from the device to the service to the software."

Both Apple's iPod player and iTunes Music Store are runaway leaders in their respective market sectors. The iPod has more than half of the digital media player market, according to research company NPD, while iTunes accounts for over 70 percent of digital music sales in the U.S.

Thankfully, after hours of testing and reviewing of video, Discovery is ready to link up with the International Space Station Thursday morning. I look forward to watching the live coverage. It turns out that very little foam fell off the fuel tank, and when it did fall off, the shuttle was at such a high altitude, that it wouldn't of mattered anyway. Do you think that NASA should risk human lives for exploration?

NASA executives said flecks of insulating foam flew off the orbiter's problem-plagued fuel tank during Tuesday's Fourth of July takeoff, but that Discovery looked to be in good shape.

The shuttle's seven crew members spent their first full day in orbit scanning vulnerable parts of the ship's heat shield for any sign of damage from possible debris impacts during Tuesday's liftoff. Foam shedding from the fuel tank triggered the 2003 Columbia disaster. The problem reoccurred during the first post-Columbia mission last year.

"Overall, the tank performance was really outstanding," flight director John Shannon told reporters in a briefing late on Wednesday.

Before Discovery's flight, NASA engineers removed two long foam wind deflectors from the tank, changed insulation around heater wires and extended coverings over metal brackets that previously had been shielded by the deflectors.

I'm sure you all know by now that North Korea has fired off seven missiles and torpedoes over the last day. Well, according to US officials, "North Korea appears to be making preparations to launch another long-range Taepodong-2 missile but the missile is not yet on the launch pad, NBC News reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed U.S. officials".

Kim Jong-il wants one thing, and one thing only, money. I'm sure he revels in the fact, that he has nuclear weapons, but he is after money. These are just scare tactics, that he's using to scare the EU and United States into forking over money.

Problem 1: We've been paying these mongrels off, for way too long, and part of this dilemma is our fault. We are at fault for feeding money to leaders like, Kim Jong-il, to shut them up.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - North Korea's missile tests will not win Pyongyang a "better deal" in six-country negotiations over its nuclear programs, chief U.S. negotiator Chris Hill said on Wednesday.

In an interview with PBS Television, Hill said North Korea may have hoped to improve its bargaining position when it fired off a barrage of missiles a day earlier. But Hill insisted: "They're not going to get a better deal through this; in fact what they're going to face is a six-party (negotiating) process that's more united than ever before."

Problem 2: This bloke treats his citizens, like the scourge of the earth, so we need to find a way to dethrone this bloke, and get a good leader to run the show.

If you want proof of the calamity, which has ensued since Kim Jong-il became the leader of North Korea, go check out this BBC article. The verity is obvious...

Isn't Freedom Grand...

I think that it is grand, that people can express themselves in any fashion they see fit. Although, some people go overboard. The first flag that you see, is the confederate flag, which may infuriate some people. It is proudly planted in the front yard of one of my neighbors. I pass this flag everyday, and it does make me think of where this country has been, and where it is going. Where are we headed, that is a question I ponder everyday.

People tell me that I try to carry the problems of the world on my shoulders, and that is mostly true. For some crazy reason, I do give a damn what happens to America. Maybe it is the name sake, that I carry like a heavy burden. For years, I kept my name hidden from view, hoping no one would find out what it was, but after years of being ashamed of it, I finally said the hell with it, and now everybody knows. If a person can't handle the fact, that a white boy in the Southern US carries that name, then he or she has a deeper problem than Jefferson Davis.
