Hello all, this is the raging Dr. Don. Jefferson, Jeffy, Shane, Shawn, Sean, or whatever he wants to call himself these days has disappeared. Before he left I was instructed on how this thing works, so if I do it write, if not oh well... He said he was going on a walkabout or something like that. Been going through a rough patch, so give him a wide berth if you see him in Ireland or wherever hes going too. Seems like he was mumbling about Baltimore, Banff, Belfast, Boston, or one of them other B cities? (He didn't bother inviting me, bastard.) Anyhew, he left the post below and an irate email, threatening me to post this or be beat to death like I'm scared of him, oh well? He said he'd be back in a week or so...

As most of you know, or if you don't know, I'm heavily involved in technology, but mainly PC network infrastructure and the like. Currently, I'm enrolled in a Network Administrations Management Degree, but I'm slated to change that soon. The deeper (Two Years) I plunged into the degree, the more I realised it wasn't for me. It would pay the bills, but I wouldn't be happy, so I'm seeking more creative routes in life's great journey.

I have no problem with working hard, I've done everything from digging ditches, with my father smacking me over the head, saying, "Dig faster", to running to successful businesses. However, I'm now at the mercy of people above me in the long chain of authority. Life has come full circle for me in a finite amount of time. I went from being your normal Joe, to a big bad boss, back to being a regular Joe. Not that I have a problem with being a regular Joe or anything. :)

Anyway, I love all of the new Web 2.0 websites(a.k.a. Tools). I use Gmail, but I had never bothered with the Google Homepage. I started playing around with it recently, and I have to say that I like it. All of my news, weather, and blogs are updated instantaneously on one page.

Do you use an RSS aggregator or something similar to Google Home?

Oh, the Republic of Ireland flag, blowing precariously on the picture below was put there to mess with you. :) I'm an American, and there is no point in denying that fact. If you listen to the PodCast, you'd pick up on my Southern American accent in a second. (Smiling, trying to hold in the laughter.)

Folks, I'm knee deep in studying for my finals, so I give you a poem that I wrote a few months ago. It's short, but it conveys the feeling that I was trying to get across at the time. I've been given permission to post this poem, by her. Feel free to give suggestions on how to improve it. It's a work in progress, like everything I do. :)

Tears run deep

even in sleep

Every tear that flows,

causes me great sorrow.

Tears flow along her face,

tears caused by my disgrace,

and shimmer down her cheeks

Whimpering in defeat

Pooling in her lips

I'm such a fool,

a fool in vain,

for the tears are falling like rain

tears falling from her chin

dropping to the ground

gathering in a mound.

Tears will dry,

when I come through the sky.

Wipe those tears away baby,

because I'm coming to stay.

I've kissed your lips,

and felt your breath.

A sweet embrace

that will never be misplaced.

I had to knock the proverbial dust off of this very old poem, but I pondered that you all may like it. :)

You hold a glistening object in your palm,
I realise what it is too late,
You dig it in before I realize.
You dig it into my heart.
You stab, stab emotion, stab feeling; stab me into a painful blur.
You stop. Leave that pin in, reach.
Reach out. Another pin lines your palm.
And again, you stab. A red trickle is invisible.
Angry thoughts flood as your pin searches in deeper.
And again you pause.
To let the pain seep in.
These pins, each wreaking havoc upon my soul.
Each pin, carefully selected, ideal for this moment.
Each pin you promised not to stab me with.
Why do you?
Cut. Stop your memories now. They don't belong here.

School is almost over...

Next Friday will be my last day at school. Hooray! Seriously, I'll miss it, but it'll be nice to have some more time to write. I've had a lot on the back burner for a while, so as soon as my brain gets cleansed with meditation and therapy, I'll post at least one a day. Some may be good, while others will most definitely be atrocious, so be prepared. :)

Don't you just love Windows!

My PC started acting crazy over a few days. First, the scanner quit working, then the printer, and last night my NIC (Network Interface Card) went out. I checked all of my connections and even had a look over all of the motherboard connections, but to no avail. At this point, I knew I had myself a windows driver problem. Instead of trying to temporarily fix the problem, I backed up all of my data, as I do once a month, and formatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro.

I reinstall about every six months. The reason I do it so often, is because I push my machine to its limits and beyond. I'm constantly uninstalling programs I don't like, installing new ones, downloading gigs of free documentaries and music collections, and I do a lot of video and audio editing, which stresses a machine. Anyhow, I felt like doing what the guy in this video did to his computer. No, I wouldn't harm my beloved self-built computer like that. :)

Shannon International Airport and The CIA

it appears that the Republic of Ireland host more CIA stopovers at Shannon Airport, than any other country in the EU. I saw possibly a hundred or so soldiers pass through the terminals, while waiting on my flight. It kind of unnerved me that so many US soldiers were passing through the same airport ass me. I started thinking that Bush was shifting them around, like chess pieces in some sick money leaden game. Hat tip to the Limerick Blogger.

Thanksgiving Dinner...

This morning I arrived at my grandmothers house, and began to clean her house from bow to stern. It was not too messy, but I did spend about two hours tidying up the place, while she remained hunched over the stove, ladling juices over the turkey. After tidying up and rearranging some furniture, the company arrived.

First, one uncle, then another aunt and uncle, a couple of cousins, mother, sisters, and after a few minutes of greeting everyone, the entire house was filled to the brim. We have a rule in our family, when it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas, if you don't come bearing food or gifts, then you might as well turn around and go home, for you'll get no food. Sometimes grandmother will allow us grandkids and great-grandkids to clean or do some repetitive task, in place of food or gifts.

Anyhow, after saying grace and poking my sister in the back a hundred times, I got in queue to eat. Once the call is uttered, you best watch out, because you are liable to get stomped on by a cousin or uncle. Once I filled my plate, until it was overflowing, I reclined in a rocking chair, set my drink (Iced Tea) down on the coffee table, making sure to put a coaster under it, and inhaled the food.

We sounded like a bunch of pigs, slopping their tongues in delight. After consuming a plate full of food, I antagonised my nephew and stepbrother, until they went outside with the other kids. With a full gut, we all reclined in our chairs or lounges and talked about old times. Grandma pulled out some old pictures to embarrass us all. She loves to do that every chance she gets. That pretty much sums up my Thanksgiving Dinner. ;)

Wee bit Shaken Up...

I was involved in a small wreck today, so I'm a bit shaken up. I'm not hurt, nor is the other person, but thanks to this gentleman running out in front of me, my insurance rates will go up. However, I'm very grateful that we both walked away unscathed. I'll add more to this later, once I gather my thoughts.

If you don't know, after all of the television coverage, Michael Richards, best known for the character Kramer on Seinfeld, said some racist remarks, while on stage. He said that he was being heckled, which caused him to go on a racist rampage. He has apologised for his remarks, but it will follow him for the rest of his career.

He brought a stigma to the forefront of society. In America, if you don't know or choose not to know, there is a deep tension between Whites, Blacks, and Latinos. Some of us choose to hide it in the closet with everything else that we choose not to confront, while others confront it head on, and get over it. South Carolina, the state in which I reside, has never resolved its civil war issues. The tension between people here is sometimes thick enough to cut with a knife.

What Michael said was wrong, there's no doubting that, but what's even more of a travesty, is that one fit of rage will follow him for the rest of his life. We all make mistakes, shouldn't we forgive and forget.

I went to private school that had no African Americans, but before going to private school at age 13, I attended a school in a predominately black neighborhood. There were very few Caucasians in the school, so we stuck together like glue. I had African American friends as well, some of which saved my neck on a few occasions. I got beat up, locked in lockers, called names, and spit on. Did I ever say the N word? Never!

Racism is more than just about colour, it's far more complicated than that. It's about colour, social class, and social status. I don't hate anyone, life is too short for such nonsense. :)

Music, and its affect on the Intellect...

Have you ever been listening to the radio, when a song comes on that intensely reminds you of someone? Well, it has happened to me countless times. For instance, I was traveling to work this morning, when a song, called You Could Be Happy, came pounding through the airwaves, which instantly drew me back to Ireland, Ms. Ireland to be exact. Anyhow, I got to thinking about how music our modality. Sunday, I wrote a post about how I'm a Drama King, so perhaps one goes with the other.

Am I the only man on this enamoured planet that is moved by a manuscript or a melody? Melodies that travel like coarse silk through a light breeze. I reckon that I'm Mr. Sensitive. :)

I should be able to post a the new short story that I discussed yesterday, this evening. Thanks for all the feedback.

The craziness within my midst, is getting crazier by the day. Every time I ponder that I've seen it all, some brain sick weirdo, like this bloke comes along.

YORK, S.C. — A 23-year-old Clover man who police say tried to dig up the grave of a 12-year-old girl after seeing her picture in an obituary has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Bryan Nicholas Garcia never did find the girl's grave and told investigators he wanted to "take her home and have fun," Clover Police Lt. Randall Horn said.

Garcia pleaded guilty but mentally ill Wednesday to two charges of destruction of a graveyard. Circuit Judge John Hayes sentenced Garcia to 20 years in prison and ordered him to register as a sex offender.

Two mental evaluations found Garcia has a chemical imbalance in his brain that makes him want to have sex with corpses and children, defense attorney John Rhea said.

Garcia hasn't decided whether to appeal, Rhea said.

Garcia was arrested in May 2005 after running through a grocery store where he once worked in a full-length green coat, black sweater, camouflage gloves and a mask.

Officers searching his car found a black plastic bag, shovels, a pickax and other digging tools, prosecutor Dan Hall said.

Garcia, who was a National Merit Scholar at York High School, told the girl's family he was sorry. "I apologize to anyone I've hurt with my actions," he said.Clover is about 20 miles southwest of Charlotte, N.C."He had seen the name of a little girl in the obituaries in the paper," Hall said. "He thought she was cute and he wanted to take her home."
Garcia then told police he was embarrassed because he had been trying to dig up the girl's grave, Hall said.

Deputies went to the cemetery and found a hole about 3 feet deep. Garcia told them he dug at the cemetery twice, but never located the girl's body, Hall said.

Pickin' and Grinnin'...

Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my Grandfathers. One of my grandfathers was from the mountains, so he showed me how to pick cotton, milk cows, and kill a chicken with one arm movement. Anyhow, I listened to Bluegrass, whilst in his company, because that is all that he would allow to be played. I grew to love bluegrass, and learned how to play the Banjo and the Harmonica. I can play a few notes on the Harmonica, but I've not played the Banjo in years.

Today, I was on youtube, searching for South Carolina candidate ads, which would be humorous enough to publish on the blog, and I came across the video below. There are still some country people in these parts. Most of whom are good people, just trying to make a living, and feed their families.

Gas is cheap, at least for now...

Gas is cheap at the moment, but it could climb back up at any instance. I'm not gloating...No, I would have to ask myself a serious question in order to do that. How many American, British, Australian, etc. soldiers had to die, in order for me to get cheap gas?

It is a hard question to ask ones self, but a correct question. Most Americans could care less, whether we are winning in Iraq, losing the war on terror, or about the political mud slinging, as long as they can get their essentials to survive. One of those vital essentials would be gas,of course. Another would be cable or satellite TV, so they (myself included) can sit around on their bums and watch Oprah and American Idol.

I would guess that I'm a traditionalist, which believes in the core values of America, but questions the current government.

Crazy Weekend...

Hi all, I've had a one of those weekends that doesn't really seem like a weekend at all. I'm a little out of sorts, probably because I've worked...Hmm...Oh well, I've done lost count on how me days I've worked in a row. Anyway, the week and weekend seemed to meld together like a mixture of Gruyere and fontina cheese into an exquisite fondue. Fondue that realeses a small whiff of white wine, with each bubble and blurp. Damn, I just gave away one of my secrets. Yep, I'm an avid amateur chef, and I've made myself hungry. :-)

Anyhow, I'll have some new post tomorrow. I'm working on two new short stories, one for the blog, and the other for the Second Skint Writer Competition. Also, the new podcast will be out tomorrow evening. Phil, here is picture of my new truck. I'm charged up, from my head down to my boots, for being able to go from point A to point B without any bull. I took the pic tonight, so ya can't tell much, but its a picture. :)

American Materialism at its best. :) Recently, I received my drivers license for the first time. You see, In America, if you have a seizer, the DOT (Department of Transportation) makes you wait five years before applying for them again. In other words, you loose your license and hope of ever getting them back.

After a logistical nightmare I finally have them. Freedom and independence used to be unattainable words in my life, but now I have a little bit of both. Of course, pondering that one is free, can only be an illusion. :)

So, my mother just bought me a new truck. I'm going to pick it up in a little while. Free at last...free at last. For most of my life, I've had to beg and plead to go anywhere, only to have the person giving me the ride, gripe and moan all the way to the destination. Now, the tables have turned, and I cannot wait for somebody to ask me for a ride. I'll smile real big and say, "Sorry, I can't do it, for I just don't have the time". Ha Ha. :)

My family has effectively bought me off for the time being, but I'm still going to study abroad ASAP. Don't misunderstand me, I'm very grateful for the truck, but there is an underlying problem with materialism in this country that I refuse to take part in. In America, it's all about who can out do their neighbor. Everybody has to have the best shoes, latest fashion, baddest customized vehicle, and biggest muscles.

I do have another truck that I've had, since I was eighteen, but unfortunately I've never been able to drive it on the road. It is too nice to drive on the road, for it is a show truck. It's a 56 Ford Pickup, 383cu inch (6.28Liters) Chevrolet motor, a turbo 400 transmission, and a 12 bolt ford rear-end (I can't remember what gear it is to save my neck.). It also has a 67' Chevy Chevelle front clip under it, lowered, and it has a chopped top. Only short people can drive this rascal. :)

The new truck is a stock Dodge Dakota Sport. Nothing special about it, but it will be dependable, which my other truck never has been. It is dark blue with a finite tint of purple. The picture you see below has an extended cab, but mine does not. What can I say, except my another victim of materialism. :)

At A Loss...

Hello all, I'm sorry for the lack of post and podcast, but I'm at a loss of what to do next. I found out this past Friday, that I would not be able to go to London, as I had planned. I was counting on my family (mother) to give me the necessary funds to go, but three days before the cut-off to send the money, my mother refused to let me have access to my own (This money issue is a complicated mess that I do not wish to get into on the blog.) money.

I am deeply saddened by this event, because I was really looking forward to the trip, schooling, and experience of being in such a vibrant city. I have been accepted by the school; in fact, I even have a Westminster email address. Frankly, I am at a loss, and unless a miracle happens, I don't think I will be able to go.

I'm more enraged than anything else, I suppose. There is one little detail that she has forgotten about, when it comes to my attitude, I'm determined. If I have to work my fingers until they bleed, and work them some more, then that my dear readers is what I must do. Once I make up my mind to do something, it will be done. That is my personality. I've got a few more desperate calls to make, before I give up, but if I'm not able to go for the Spring, I'll definitely be there for the Summer and Fall.

This my kind readers and listeners is why I've been withdrawn from the blogosphere. I've delayed the podcast once again, but I should have it finished by Friday evening. Thanks to everyone for reading my dribble, and listening to me slur. :) Thanks again...

I'm working on a proposal for school at present. I've got to come up with a proposal on how to extinguish poverty in Brazil. My opinion on said topic is that we need to worry about poverty in our own backyard, but it's for Sociology, so I'll have to come up with something worthy of an "A". :) Anyhow, I should have some interesting post tonight. I got the last fleck of my final paperwork today. All Right! Now the wheels have been greased, and I'm on my way. I don't have to be in London until January 4th, but as I've already stated previously, I'll be traveling throughout the UK, starting around the middle to end of December. I'm totally looking forward to the trip and school.

In addition, I should have a short story posted by tomorrow afternoond. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm quite fond of a quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, "One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words".

There is a secret hidden within this book cipher. It goes with a manuscript, but I can't just tell you what the name of the "book" is. I recently cited this book or classic collection of books on another blog. Can you decipher the message? It is important. I did take the time to do this, so give it a whirl. I love the old world charm of historical cryptography. It's genius, but nobody makes use of it anymore. What say you? The other blog is linked to on my site. Folks, I have created a formal apology audio file, consisting of an apology, for my actions over the past three months. I've been erratic and a wee bit crazy. I've looked back at the archives

over the past three months, and have been literally dumbfounded by my own post. There are a few post that I feel terrible for ever publishing, but they've already been cached by big brother, so I see no point in deleting them.

I am a smart man, but stupid as heck at certain things. I look back on my life, before traveling abroad as black, and now I'm in the light, or at least a little bit. I've had people tell me that I am spiraling out of control, and to a certain extent that is true. I've had to look at my own life, and perceive what I could fix. The number one problem is the Alcohol, so it's gone. Every man in my family has dealt with Alcoholism at one time or another, so I'm stopping before mine gets out of control. It's OK to drink on occasions or have some wine with dinner, but to drink like me, is utterly futile.

I do apologize to those of you that I've upset for one reason or another. I'm growing and adapting more than you know, and more than I am willing to share. My future is picturesque. How do you see yourself in the future? I've made amends with these statements, and calls I've made. How about you? Life is soo short folks. Must do it right the first time around... :)

Too sexy for a Bomb...

I don't believe a word that comes out of the mans mouth. Of course, the same could be said about my own leaders. It's all about the money folks. I don't think that Ahmadinejad wants a bomb, he just likes the attention and money thrown at him, from the EU and UN.

I bet the man strolls around his pristine presidential palace, singing, "I'm too sexy. I'm too sexy for a bomb, too sexy for a bomb. I'm too sexy for Bush, too sexy for Bush. I'm da man. I'm too sexy for myself, too sexy for myself. I've got all the money and the honey's."

"The bottom line is we do not need a bomb," he said at a news conference on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly.

The nations seeking to halt Iran's disputed nuclear activities are working out a new deadline for the Islamic republic and have authorized the European Union's foreign policy chief to go anywhere at any time to meet Tehran's top nuclear negotiator.

Despite the possible new accommodations, diplomats said they're not willing to wait much longer for Iran to respond more definitively to their package of incentives to stop uranium enrichment.

Ahmadinejad said he believed negotiations on the issue were "on the right track."

"Our position on suspension is very clear," Ahmadinejad said. "Under fair and just conditions ... we will negotiate about it."

He said the Iranians "want to make sure that everything we agree on" has a guarantee but they were not looking for security measures.

"We are able to protect ourselves and our security," he said. "What we speak of are guarantees of enforcement of provisions that are agreed upon."

He also accused the U.S. of having a double standard and said it should destroy its own nuclear arsenal, which would make it "less suspicious of others."

Seriously, don't underestimate Ahmadinejad, or any mad leader for that matter. I watched his speech on CSPAN, and he did have some very interesting points. Here is a link to the video.

So after all these years of knowing Pluto as the ninth planet, and having to make those freaking foam solar systems as a kid, Pluto no longer exist as a planet. Well, that is scientist for ya, just wait a few years and they'll change its status back to a planet. Scientist are supposed to be data oriented, without putting their own view ahead of the data, but that rarely happens. What are teachers supposed to tell kids, when they come in for their planetary lesson, "Umm, we only have eight planets now". (Shrugging Shoulders) I guess the five food groups will be knocked down to four next. LOL What say you?

Everybody is blogging about this very subject, and perhaps the IAU conference is where Jett Loe has been loitering, and I am quite certain that the gang from The Playaz Ball were lurking amongst the scientist.

Discovered in 1930, Pluto has traditionally been considered the ninth planet, and furthest from the sun, in the solar system.

However, the definition of a planet approved after a heated debate among some 2,500 scientists from the International Astronomical Union (IAU) meeting in Prague drew a clear distinction between Pluto and the other eight planets.

The scientists agreed that to be called a planet, a celestial body must be in orbit around a star while not itself being a star.

It also must be large enough in mass for its own gravity to pull it into a nearly spherical shape and have cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit.

Pluto was disqualified because its oblong orbit overlaps with Neptune's.

The new definition -- the first time the IAU has tried to define scientifically what a planet is -- means a second category called "dwarf planets", has been created, as well as a third category for all other objects, except satellites, known as small solar system bodies.

The need to define what it takes to be a planet was driven by technological advances that enable astronomers to look further into space and to measure more precisely the size of celestial bodies in our solar system.

From now on, traditional planets will be restricted to eight: Mercury, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Venus, Mars and Uranus.

Saddam Trial Part (Don't Ask)...

Adiba Oula Bayez, a Kurdish Iraqi woman that got bombed during the Anfal Campaign. Saddam supposedly directed his Air force to drop bombs on Kurdish villages near the Iranian border. Apparently, some Kurdish militants had joined forces with Iran, or at least that is Saddam's excuse.

Like all court cases, it is a drama unfolding before our very eyes. The woman bluntly said, "May God blind them all", while on the witness stand. If Saddam is found innocent of these charges, he best pray that he's not released back into the Iraqi population. I would not be surprised if he were found innocent, not because I think he is innocent, quite on the contrary. Ultimately, Saddam and his cohorts will be released, because the new Government is as corrupt as his Government. That, is the blunt honest, yet sad truth.

I asked a good friend, who is an elderly Muslim, if he thought Iraq would ever become civilized, and he replied, "The only damn thing that will bring Iraq back to its former glory, if it had one, is to put a very strong man in control. In other words, if you put Saddam back in charge, the chaos that exist today would stop instantly. You see, Saddam was a ruthless tyrant, but he kept people in line."

I don't agree with that assumption, but he did have some interesting points. What say you?

The former Iraqi leader and six others are being tried over the Anfal campaign in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq in the late 1980s.

The prosecution alleges that up to 180,000 civilians were killed.

Adiba Oula Bayez described the bombardment of her village, Balisan, on 16 April 1987.

She said warplanes dropped bombs that spread a smoke that smelled "like rotten apples".

"Then my daughter Narjis came to me, complaining about pain in her eyes, chest and stomach. When I got close to see what was wrong with her, she threw up all over me," she said.

"When I took her in to wash her face... all my other children were throwing up.

"Then my condition got bad, too. And that's when we realised that the weapon was poisonous and chemical."

She then described how her family was blinded by the attack, sought shelter along with other villagers from Iraqi army fire, and was taken to a detention centre. "I went for four days without eyesight. My children could not see. I was just screaming. On the fifth day I slightly opened my eyes. And it was a terrible scene. My children and my skin had turned black," she said.

Mrs Bayez told the court one of her children had died after the chemical attack, and she had subsequently had two miscarriages.

"May God blind them all," she said, pointing at Saddam Hussein and his co-defendants.

Mrs Bayez is married to one of the men who testified for the prosecution on Tuesday, Ali Mustapha Hama.

The former leader, who faces the death penalty if found guilty of genocide, questioned the witness's account of one alleged chemical attack:

"I wonder if the village in which she lived was struck with chemical weapons, why she was hurt while the others, her two sisters or daughters and a husband - not one of them was hurt? And why those who came to rescue her were not hurt too? Thank you."

The trial has now been adjourned to 11 September.

New Books...

I just recieved two books from a friend of mine, Derec Jones /Skint Writer. I highly recommend that you check out his blog and books, because the man is absolutely brilliant. One of the books is a Novel, called The Three Bears, and the other books is a compilation of short stories, called The Walker. There is a short story in the book called "The Walker", and it gives a unique perspective on life.

I have a slew of homework piling over my head, but I will definitely make time for these two books. You can purchase the books directly through him, or you can go to his publishers website.

I conclude, at least in my journey through life, that every thing that everything that comes into contact with our senses, whether it be art, great manuscripts, a flower on a beautiful day, or an exquisite specimen of a woman that is unblemished from time, alters our life in one fashion or another.

Many have asked the question, what is art? Well, many have argued on this very subject for hundreds and perhaps thousands of years. But, I have to inquire, what is not art? Why, life itself can be art. Anything that you put imagination, heart, and soul into could be described as art.

A visual object or experience consciously created through an expression of skill or imagination.

The term art encompasses diverse media such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, decorative arts, photography, and installation. The various visual arts exist within a continuum that ranges from purely aesthetic purposes at one end to purely utilitarian purposes at the other. This should by no means be taken as a rigid scheme, however, particularly in cultures in which everyday objects are painstakingly constructed and imbued with meaning.

Crime Rate Spiralling Out of Control...

Like it or not...Admit it or not, America is spiraling out of control, but at the moment I only want to concentrate on crime. Analicia Perry, from Roxbury, Massechussettes was shot and killed today, while kneeling over a shrine, where her brother had died a year earlier. Cities, like Boston, which used to be a model city for other crime ridden cities, had the highest crime rate last year of the decade, and it has been suggested that it will go even higher this year.

I was watching CSPAN last evening, and caught about half of a meeting, where prominent African Americans were discussing what could be done to help Young African American Men. Many things were suggested and a ton of complaints were thrown on the table. I agreed with about half of the speakers. Did you know that 70% of all African American births are out of wedlock, sad but true. The main focus that I received from people like Mr. Bill Cosby, was family, and its imperative importance. I totally concur on that note. Where is the famed American Family anymore?

The main thing I want to point out is that the issues that they discussed cross all racial boundaries. If we are truly a united people, we must forget all this racial nonsense and work to help all young people, regardless of race or culture. I know plenty of "white" people that have been through hell, for no good reason. For instance, I have this friend of mine at work, who is married and has a son. Her husband has been locked up for a year now, for a driving under suspension. The man finally got his life straightened out, got a job, took care of his wife and kid, and for that, he got thrown in jail. This gentleman happens to be a "white" man. Now, if the tables were turned maybe he would still be out. I don't know... The truth is, we all have our demons and struggles in life, regardless of race or culture.

In addition, I was watching CSPAN about a week ago, and they had John Edwards speaking at some democratic meeting. He said something that rattle me to the core, because it is so true. America is looking for a leader. All of the children growing up in these single parent homes have nobody to look up to. It all boils down to family...The crime, children born out of wedlock, doing drugs, drinking, and getting involved with the wrong crowd. Children desperately need and deserve a mom and dad. Any prick that wants to call himself a man, after running out on some poor girl he knocked up, better not cross my path.

Some time ago...ahemI(I will not tell how long ago, for that would be divulging too far into my personal life.)...I thought that I was going to be a dad, because of reasons I will never disclose. Well, I went through a couple of days of hell, contemplating the future. Anyhow, rest assured, I would of been by her side through thick and thin. That is just the type of guy I am, because my dad was always there for me. I hope to be a good father some day, and according to my dad, I best hurry up, because I'm not getting any younger. :-)

Oh Please...

Supposedly, this Virgin Mary shaped statuette was formed from drippings of a chocolate vat at Bodega Chocolates, Fountain Valley California. I am not poking fun at Catholic beliefs, but this is obviously a hoax. I would never poke fun at Catholics, because half of my family is Catholic. :-)

Workers at Angiano's gourmet chocolate company, Bodega Chocolates, discovered under a vat a 2-inch-tall column of chocolate drippings that they believe bears a striking resemblance to the Virgin Mary.

Since the discovery Monday, Angiano's employees have spent much of their time hovering over the tiny figure, praying and placing rose petals and candles around it.

"I was raised to believe in the Virgin Mary, but this still gives me the chills," Angiano said as she balanced the dark brown figure in her hand. "Everyone should see this."

Kitchen worker Cruz Jacinto was the first to spot the lump of melted chocolate when she began her shift Monday cleaning up drippings that had accumulated under a large vat of dark chocolate.

Chocolate drippings usually harden in thin, flat strips on wax paper, but Jacinto said she froze when she noticed the unusual shape of this cast-off: It looked just like the Virgin Mary on the prayer card she always carries in her right pocket.

"When I come in, the first thing I do is look at the clock, but this time I didn't look at the clock. My eyes went directly to the chocolate," said Jacinto, dressed in a hair net and apron as she paused from her work. "I thought, 'Am I the only one who can see this? I picked it up and I felt emotion just come over me. For me, it was a sign."

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran is blogging. Yes, that is correct, the mad man that leads the Iranian people, either by force or persuasion, has a blog and is updating it regularly. What's in store for us next? Will President Bush be next to join the blogosphere? Yikes! Well, I opine that blogging is the new medium for pushing ones agenda. Now, I would fling myself to the floor in an uncontrollable fit of laughter, if Kim il Jong took up blogging. What's your say?

State-run television announced the blog's launch on Sunday, urging the public to write messages to the president via the website.

In his first entry Ahmadinejad wrote about his childhood, the country's Islamic revolution and Iran's war with Iraq.

The blog also asks readers to participate in an online poll which asks if they think the United States and Israel are "pulling the trigger for another world war".

The blog is translated into English, French and Arabic.

Bomb Scare on British Airliner..

The foiled terrorist plot to blow up ten planes over the Atlantic scared us all, and perhaps it brought us back to the harsh reality that is life today. A plane leaving Hethrow Airport in London had to turn around today, due to a mobile phone that did not belong ot any of the passengers. The pilot was being cautious, and rightly so.

A British Airways flight to New York was turned back to London's Heathrow airport on Sunday because of a security scare over a mobile phone that did not belong to any of the passengers, officials said.

The phone was later found to be safe, as the government said the threat to Britain of a terrorist attack had been downgraded to severe from the critical level last week when police said they had foiled a plot to blow up transatlantic airliners.

Despite the downgrading, the Transport Department warned in a statement: "This (still) means that a terrorist attack is still highly likely."

British Airways said the captain of the airliner, which was carrying 217 passengers, had decided to return to London as a precautionary measure.

"A mobile phone was located on board the aircraft which none of the passengers appeared to own," it said in a statement.

Mobile phones were banned from flights departing from British airports under new tough security measures introduced after the disclosure of the alleged plot to smuggle bombs on to aircraft disguised as drinks.

Are you happy with Mr. Bush?

President Bush's approval rating is at 35.8%, which is the lowest since he entered office in 2001; in fact, It is the lowest for him or his father (George H. Bush). His approval rating has been in a slow decline, since the fourth quarter of his presidency.

PRINCETON, NJ -- George W. Bush's most recent quarter, his 22nd in office, was the worst of his presidency and the worst for any president since 1992, based on his 35.8% average approval rating during that quarter. It also ranks in the bottom 20 quarters out of the more than 240 quarters Gallup has measured for all presidents since Harry Truman.

For the quarter beginning on April 20, 2006, and ending on July 19, Bush averaged a 35.8% approval rating. This includes Bush's term low 31% single poll rating in early May of this year. Since then, his approval rating has recovered somewhat with his last rating of his 22nd quarter at 40%. Bush's first two ratings of his 23rd quarter have been 37% and 40% respectively.

World Trade Center Movie

I for one, am not astonished by the out pouring of tears, which ensued at the screening of The World Trade Center Movie. I reckon that everyone that is American, and even those that are abroad can remember where they were and what they were doing. I remember watching the news about the first crash, when the second plane hit.

Several bloggers, reporters, and news anchors have said that it is too soon, but if it has a glimmer of a chance, of awakening the kinship we had with one another after September 11th, then I say go for it.

I was watching Rescue Me last night, when the Character Tommy said, "I bet any of you could give me the names of all the finalist in the American Idol Contest, but can you give me one name out of the 343 Fireman that lost their lives on September 11th. No, I didn't think so..." Those are very true words that certainly hit home with me. Us Americans must never forget the sacrifices those men and women made on that faithful day.

I will go and watch the movie tomorrow night, and let you know how it is, but I won't tell ya if I cried or not. :-) What say you?

"World Trade Center" sparked debate about whether Americans are ready for a film focusing on the Twin Towers attack, where 2,749 people died, but moviegoers at an early New York screening commended it.

"It was touching, (Stone) did a good job," said makeup artist Rodney Ramos. "I feel like I'm closing something a little bit."

About 50 people attended a matinee screening at a Midtown Manhattan cinema. Many wept or were visibly shaken.

The movie, starring Nicolas Cage, is based on the true story of two policemen who raced into the World Trade Center to save people, but were trapped in the rubble of the collapsed buildings for 12 hours before their rescue.

"I can understand why people are not ready to see it yet, but I think that they will be surprised at how powerful and personal it is," said Leslie Friedman, a New Yorker who said she was not in the city on the day of the attacks.

Reviewers have said the often-provocative Stone had shown respect, restraint and patriotism in the film, but box office experts said the test would be whether people were willing to see it or considered the subject too sensitive.

What Can I Say?

Hi folks, I do apologize for my slackness of late. I'm a very busy fella, as we all are at this day and time. The blogosphere is a bit bleak at the moment. Everybody is discussing the Middle East, but it's too damn depressing for me to talk about, and really, what words can be uttered that will resolve the conflict.

However, with all the death, violence, war, and sickness in the world, people can still find love. Observing human nature has always been a hobby of mine. When love takes over, as it does to anyone that is in love, everything else falls to the wayside. But with all the delight that love or should I say your beloved brings to your life, it or they can also inflict you with the most horrendous pain, you could every envision. Kids, young adults, and adults, be forewarned of what is to come. :-) I'm just joshing you, love is grand...

Speaking of love, if you are in the mood for some soulful music, check out Corinne Bailey Rae. She has the most exquisite voice, that I have heard in quite some time. Unlike most young artist in her genre, her lyrics are written in the most elegant manner. Of course, she has an English Literature degree, and she is from Leeds, England. The biggest reason I like and respect her music, is because she doesn't show off her physical attributes, like so many of her young American counterparts do. A little mystery is a good thing, for it brings out the best of our imagination. :-)

Who do you fear the most, or should I say what tyrannical leader do you fear the most. Here is a breakdown of who I fear.

I fear myself far more than anyone or anything else, because I am ultimately in control of my own destiny and existence. Heck, I don't even want to acknowledge the nefarious activities I've taken part in. :-) Nah....I'm not that bad.
That crazy, cockeyed, mischievous, wicked, and antisemitic leader of Iran, called Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. This guy really gripes me...
Kim il Jong...The man is purposely starving his people to death. I have previously posted about that lunatic. The scary thing about him, is that he has nukes and missiles to carry them.
Hugo Chavez, who recently compared Israel to Hitler. OK, I'm not going to touch that subject, but the man is a wee bit enamoured.
Also, there are several people within the United States Government that I fear, not only because of their power, but for their decision making, that ultimately controls America.

Flourishing Heat Wave has claimed 150 lives, Over the past Two Weeks...

Speaking of swltering heat, as I did in the previous post, 150 people have died from it. This horriffic heat wave is terrible for sick and elderly people. When I was a lad, my grandmother used to tell me how her family would sit and wait in anticipation for the ice man to bring giant cubes of ice; in fact, they would use these giant chunks of ice in an old fashoined ice box, which would keep perishable items, such as milk, cheese, and butter cool, during the hottest part of the year.

However, I can remember my grandfather telling me that his family would put such perishable items in a local creek. He grew up out in the country, picking cotton and doing other back breaking activities. We think that we have it bad in this heat...Huh..we truly don't know the meaning of the word heat, unless you live withough air-conditioning, and then I just feel your pain. I spend about three hours a day out in the sweltering heat, walking and gardening. Stay cool all...
A record-breaking U.S. heat wave that has killed more than 150 people nationwide in the past two weeks claimed two more victims on Thursday just as relief was due.

The heat, which has moved east from California, also prompted record electricity demand and continued to force New York businesses to dim their Times Square billboards as part of a citywide conservation effort.

"We have had more record-breaking heat today, a lot of it in New York state," National Weather Service meteorologist Dennis Feltgen said.

All three of the New York City area's major airports reported August 3 records of 99 to 100 F (38 C). Baltimore, at 100 F, and Bridgeport, Connecticut, at 97 F (36 C), were among other Northeast cities breaking records, Feltgen said.

"The relief is coming on down. Boston will feel it tomorrow, New York will feel it tomorrow, Philadelphia will begin to feel it later tomorrow and we will begin to feel it in Washington and Baltimore tomorrow night and certainly on Saturday," he said.

Kansas City began to cool on Thursday and St. Louis and Indianapolis were expected get relief on Friday, he said.

In Newark, New Jersey, a husband and wife aged 66 and 65 were found dead in their living room with the windows closed and no air conditioning, said Desiree Peterkin Bell, a spokeswoman for the Newark mayor's office.

I have nothing to say about what is going on in Lebanon, simply because it would be useless to talk of the horror that has ensued throughout Lebanon. I try to bring beauty, love, and education to the world, not tyranny, tears, and bloodshed. It breaks my heart to envision women weeping over the death of a loved one or child. What else can I say?

Google enjoys toying with my emotions. Recent search terms directing people to my blog were, "Jefferson Davis Dead", "Jefferson Davis' Headstone", "Writings of Jefferson Davis", and my personal favorite "The inner thoughts of Jefferson Davis".

I'm not dead, nor do I want to be dead. The President of the South (Jefferson Davis) is dead, and he has been that way for over a hundred years, so get over it. Life goes on people. The civil war was over a hundred years ago, yet we are still divided, not just north and south, but east and west, ethnicity, and culture still divide us today. Anybody that doesn't see that is a bigot themselves. Recently, a friend made fun of the Northern Irish, because they can't get along, but I was quick to remind him that we cannot get along in our communities, streets, and own houses. Who are we to make fun of another culture?
I don't have a damn headstone, so get over it already. Some people choose to buy a burial plot, headstone and pay for the funeral services ahead of time, but in my opinion, that is planning for death, and I'm planning for that. However, it can be said that dealing with all of that ahead of time, saves your family a lot of grief, yet I say let them weep. Just kidding... I did tell my mother one time, when I was hanging by a thread that was fraying with every breath, that I wanted to be buried overlooking a small pond, while lying under a dogwood tree, which would shed its aromatic blossoms on my grave every spring...
As far as the writing is concerned, I can only hope that more people read what I have to say. Everything I write has a message behind it, whether it be obvious or not.
The inner ponderings of my mind are for my eyes only. :-) My intellect is something that an exquisite being dare not bespeak, and something that an intellectual pines for daily. OK, I am a bit full of myself, but I do have a keen eye and intellectual prowess.. :)
